why olaf’s frozen adventure is so fricking good: a thread
the message!! it’s main message is that tradition is not the most important thing during the holidays. what matters the most is being with the ones you love
the backstory!! it gives so much background to how the sisters spent their years apart. anna gave her gifts every year, and elsa always looked forward to them and they made her happy during those years of sadness
more about the backstory!! specifically, it shows a lot about elsa’s point of view during their childhood. her box of gloves shows that that was the only thing she could focus on, and sir jorgenbjorgen was her only source of comfort
(i googled sir jorgenbjorgen to make sure i spelled it right and OMG THERES A PLUSH OF HIM????? OMG I NEED TO GET THAT)
ring in the season!! this song sets up the story perfectly. i’d compare it to some things never change and for the first time in forever. it’s at the beginning, it’s a happy, upbeat song, +
it starts with anna, goes to elsa, and ends with all of arendelle singing (just like some things never change), and it’s just a perfect beginning to ofa
ring in the season reprise!! this song also plays an important role in the story and overall character development. elsa feels like it’s her fault that they have no family traditions. this is consistent to her overall character arc, in which she constantly blames herself for +
hurting anna. she always feels like everything is her fault. this struggle of hers is very present in other places, like when she blames herself for hurting anna in frozen 1, and when she blames herself for anna never having a good birthday, and she tries to give her the best +
birthday ever to make up for all the birthdays she feels she ruined. i talked way too long about this but ndndndndjjd you get the point
when we’re together!! this is one of my favorite comfort songs. it’s so beautiful, and it teaches the message that the thing that matters most is being together with the people (or snowmen) you love. some of my favorite lines are “i don’t need the bells to ring, i’ll know when +
it’s here” and “when we’re together, it’s a holiday every night” because it’s basically saying that you don’t need an official holiday for it to feel like a holiday and be together with your loved ones
ofa’s place in the franchise!! this is the first time we see them after frozen (because frozen fever is technically after ofa in the timeline) and we can see how close they’ve gotten. elsa and anna are best friends, kristoff, sven, and olaf are also a part of the family, +
they’re all just one big happy group of found family and i love it. however, anna and elsa are still learning a lot about each other. they spent 13 years being separated, and it’s only been a few months since they were reunited. to be honest, i feel like this is the better +
short/special between ofa and ff. i absolutely love frozen fever, but olaf’s frozen adventure has so many amazing themes and moments that frozen fever just didn’t meet. it’s an excellent bridge between the first movie and the second one, and it gives so much insight as to what +
happened during those 13 years of separation. also, i just really love it and it’s one of my comfort things fndndkdjfjf.
