this is so silly but my entire life ive spelled my name ‘Mary Kate.’ 17 years and ive always spelled it like that, because that’s what my parents told me to do. it causes tons of confusion because people don’t understand the concept of having two words in a first name—
my legal name is actually mary. i’ve never gone by that because it rlly rlly does not suit me well, and neither does kate. my entire life, i’ve always thought about how much nicer it would be to have a dash inbetween my name (Mary-kate.)
but then i had a realizashun.
if mary is my legal name and my preferred name is MY preferred name, i can literally write it however i want. thus my name is now.....
✨Mary-kate✨
also i highkey want to save up eventually and change my name legally to ‘Mary-kate’ i would absolutely love to have that happen. i literally don’t understand why my parents named me mary when they wanted me to be called something different.
i was so insecure in middle school there were certain classes where i didn’t even bother telling my teachers my real name and everyone would make fun of me bc the name mary doesn’t represent me at all. i would go entire semesters and they wouldn’t even know.
i know it sounds like a small thing but it rlly frustrates me having to remind ppl all the time my name is Mary-kate. and also in middle school/early highschool everyone and i mean EVERYONE has called me Mk. for the last two years i’ve realized that i honestly don’t like being
called that. idk why but when people say ‘Mk’ it doesn’t resonate with me as much. i feel like they r talking about someone else. which would make sense because in middle school i was definitely playing a role all of the time. so if you bothered to read this thread—
please use Mary-kate😁
