Nashandi was responding to questions f regarding the alleged hacking of the websites by an environmental group protesting the exploration licence given to a Canadian company called Recon Africa.
Roar Wildlife News reported that a hacking group is claiming to have taken down the Namibian government's domain, reportedly in connection with the case of Canadian company Recon Africa having been granted permission to drill in the Okavango.
Recon Africa has plans to explore for oil and gas in the Kavango delta, one of Africa's last great natural sanctuaries, a pristine and rich wilderness home to vast concentrations of wildlife.

Information minister Peya Mushelenga said he had heard about it but could not confirm, while the information executive director Mbeuta Ua Ndjarakana said he did not know.
This is not the first-time environmental activists have hacked the government’s websites. In 2014, a group calling themselves Anonymous - launched an illegal internet campaign called OpFunKill protesting the auctioning off of black rhino to an American-based Dallas Safari Club.
The hackers illegally gained access to a range of Namibian websites and stole content, which they moved to different places on the internet.
