Today is #CleanAirDay and to celebrate it we will be showcasing a key facility @OfficialUoM researchers use to better understand this issue @globalactplan @NERCscience @AtmosScience @UoMSciEng @UoM_EES
#AirQuality is a complex problem as it’s a product of the type and quantity of pollutants and the meteorological conditions at the time. The @NERCscience AQ Supersite allows researchers to measure these factors in tandem which is crucial for a clear understanding of air quality
The AQ supersite is one of the most comprehensive suites of equipment in the country and has
- Gas Lab (ozone, NOx, GHGs)
- Aerosol lab (PM10, PM2.5, soot, chemical comp)
- Meteorological lab (wind speed & temp, ppt)
See these measurements coming in live https://bit.ly/2SC85wx
Being able to measure all of these factors at the same time builds a much better picture of the sources of pollutions and how pollution forms, lasts and disperses and is used to inform policy decisions around #AirQuality #CleanAirDay
Dr Nick Marsden is one of the researchers working on the site so head over to his page @DrNickyM1 where he will talk you through the @NERCscience AQ Supersite data as it comes in
