It's a wet, miserable Thursday morning.

Who needs cheering up?
Sure, it may be raining in Yorkshire.
SURE, the winter may be drawing in.
SUUURE, the long nights are unfurling in front of us like a dark cloak erasing the memories of a fleeting summer we didn't get to really enjoy.

It's not all bad, though - Doncaster Council is here!
And we're here to remind you that, no matter how bleak things may seem, there are FANTASTIC people all around us.

September showed us that, as volunteers from around Doncaster hit the streets to tidy up during the Great British September Clean.

Let's meet some of them.
Firstly, volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association were out at 6.30 in the morning cleaning their local streets.

Thank you to all of you, what amazing community spirit.
Volunteers in Bedlam Plantation picked up rubbish including 2 paddling pools, a car seat, 2 bike tyres and a wheel, a radiator, duvets, a big mirror and a plastic road barrier.

It was like a version of the Generation Game where the prizes were donated by selfish morons.
This wonderful person, Vanya Pearson, collected 10 bags of rubbish from Broomhouse Lane, which we were happy to collect.

Vanya, you're a hero.
Local councillors in Askern joined in and collected 5 bags from around the area.
Staff and volunteers at Lakeside shopping centre were also out, and were joined by our trusty Womble to pick up rubbish.

Well done to all of them.
There were many more examples from throughout the month of this kind of community spirit, and it has made our hearts feel full of gratitude.
So, our message on this cold, dreary Thursday morning is simple.

The world may have ground us all down a bit. The weather might get to you. People who drop litter, or say horrible things, might make you feel hopeless.

None of it will EVER break us.
Look at these wonderful people, and take heart.

We'll be ok.
