There’s only one man I hate in this world and that’s Max Müller. The one responsible for singlehandedly destroying Hindu holy scriptures and texts.
The German scholar who was established in England stole the out holy scriptures and in a twisted way mistranslated them. He and other Scholars had a twisted agenda to take out Hinduism from India by superimposing Christianity as a superior religion.
He believed that it would be Indians' fault if Christianity didn't step in because the ancient religion of India was “doomed” at the time.
He was the first Westener to “translate” the rig Veda and misconstrue it. He also contributed to the false “Aryan invasion theory” which was used to make Indians feel inferior to Westerners. This contributes to the Colorism we see there today.
Additionally, the British added flames to Max Müller’s fuel by exploiting the portrayal of the Caste System as purely religion based. Not society-based as other social structures were.
This was mobilized against Hindus only, when this was something that Muslims in South Asia had too. This can be seen in the segregation of Ashraf people (Muslim Foreign Conqueror) and the Ajlaf (Local Converts). Yet this is not mentioned in any history book.
Additionally Varna or the Social Classes in Hinduism weren’t there to segregate. They were skill based. It was believed those who were worthy could move up varna levels.
Varna is often confused with Caste which there are thousands of in India. But this didn’t determine your role in society. Caste can be seen as your lineage and Varna your skill or ability.
Another thing the British ruined was the perception of the LGBT community in India. They imposed colonial laws making any homosexuality illegal.
This leads people to believe that Hinduism is anti-lgbt which is not true at all. In fact we’re the known religion the acknowledges the existence of a third gender.
Additionally in the Kama-sutra it is written that homosexuality is considered an art and practice which is completely natural. But this was exploited and shutout by the British and the law was put into the Indian brain that it’s wrong to be LGBT which continues culturally today.
And finally the worst part that wraps all these twisted evil that the British had done to ruin our culture was the integration and creation of the Manu-Smriti into Indian Law.
The Manusmriti is a commentary and personal beliefs of Manu, an ancient law maker and was derived from the year 100 CE.
Manusmiriti is not a part of our Vedas or holy scriptures, it is one mans interpretation and commentary on the scripture.
This was “translated” by Sir William Jones in the year 1776 and used to create Indian law. This means that Indian law wasn’t based off the values of it’s ancient native texts. But rather based of a twisted translation of a commentary by Manu.
To this day the authenticity of Manusmriti is questioned due to parts of the text not matching up thanks to the British who sabotaged the texts. Indian law was created based off this twisted text.
And as a result the Indian Laws created we’re seen by Indians as cultural even though that’s not what their culture actually was. This created the roots of the problem in the subcontinent we see today.
Colorism, Casteism, Social stigmas against LGBT etc. are all primary examples.
In conclusion the British not only robbed us of $45 trillion of resources but our cultural values. In the world’s eyes they’ve demonized us in an attempt to make their own religion superior.
The examples I mentioned above are the reason behind the majority of the problems I see portrayed in the common eye. It is important to show the world that India and Hinduism are not how they are shown rather it is the narrative shown by the colonizers who exploited our country.
The Colonizers brainwashed our own people into self-hatred In order to allow us to slowly decay. It was a simple ploy to do two things: Create Division, and conquer our mindsets.
I want to acknowledge that India is a very religiously diverse country but in this thread I focus on Hinduism as it is the major religion practiced in India and the specific impacts of colonialism that exploited its practices and influenced it’s identity in today’s world.
