I need help understanding this idea. I've always been a fan of a multiverse, but the idea of something happening "before" the current universe makes little sense to me. If time is tied to space, and at some point in the universe's cycle everything is infinitely dense, then wouldn't you hit some kind of asymptote? Or is there some metatheory within which you imagine the universe existing, and that metatheory has a notion of "time"?
Personally it makes no sense to me that anything can exist without itself being contained in something else, but then I'm a dependent type theorist so
I guess some people believe in impredicativity but we don't like them very much
