how do you square a fantasy about a green new deal under biden and watch a person on his team defend fracking

i get all the reasons people are being forced into voting for biden. I think it’s really unhealthy to turn that into a fantasy that biden will enact anything resembling a leftist policy.

He will defend the status quo which is already extremely right wing and bad

yes i know there are only two choices, but I think it’s not an invitation to vote for biden and abdicate your responsibility to fuck shit up with direct action

a LOT of people are waiting for that “if hilary had won, we’d all be at brunch” moment they think they were robbed of. They’re not looking at their duty to the country to move the overton window and pressure every elected official every day by direct action

fascism isn’t one guy, one policy, one action. it is a series of barely perceptible moves that prime people to accept the next one until the worst has already happened. if biden takes office, he will have inheirited fascism from 40 years of shitty policies

trump was just more brazen than others. a lot of americans still love and support the institutions he inheirited that carry out fascist acts.

If you think you can vote biden and support police or prisons, you are wrong

110 corporations worldwide are responsible for climate change. do you think, based on biden’s political career that he will take them to the woodshed without people forcing him to?

yes the situation is bad. But it’s going to BE BAD TOO under biden and I don’t see a lot of chatter as to what happens if you wake up and biden has won.

Especially if the house is GOP

voting isn’t the end game. It’s one very small piece of a puzzle. It is an invitation to a candidate to prove their worth, but you have to make them work for it every day they’re in office, and that takes a stamina and a dogged determination that few americans have right now

biden could win AND the country could still proceed with fascism.

Because america isn’t just one guy.

It’s a series of bad institutions with a lot of conservatives running them who won’t be displaced by a biden win.

It’s also a series of increasingly conservative judges

and i’m not even talking about the supreme court. I’m talking about judges in every city in the nation. I’m talking about state supreme courts. I’m talking about people who have never gone against police no matter how audaciously racist or violently corrupt they are

those people don’t vacate in a biden win.

Sherrifs don’t vacate in a biden win.

Cops don’t vacate in a biden win.

ICE doesn’t vacate in a biden win

there needs to be a plan. Biden needs to feel like he has no choice but to break left and to be really honest: I have zero confidence he can be shamed like that.

what is your plan if he says ‘come on, man!’ to a green new deal, medicare for all, defunding the police, etc etc etc.

It’s not about one vote on one day

in short, it’s going to be your patriotic duty to fuck shit up for politicians for the foreseeable future. fine, vote for grandpa with the better haircut, but know that it’s not the whole plan

you have to apply the same critical thinking to biden if he’s elected as you do to trump. That is not negotiable. If you vote in biden and then treat him like butter wouldn’t melt, babies will still be imprisoned and raped by iCE

you cannot let democrats get away with one fucking thing should they take the White House, the house, the senate, etc. You cannot allow them to “work with” the enemy that you *just* definied as fascist. that is the point.

if you’re really anti fascist, then you cannot give fascists any quarter. You should be finding ways to fund and support local anti fascist orgs and activists and get involved yourself. voting is not inherently an anti fascist act.

Hitler was elected in a free election

given the right conditions, any elected official can be pushed into enacting fascist policies. There is nothing that prevents this except strong antifascist organization
