/8 I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis. I suffer from Chronic Inflammation induced by triggers, such as food allergies/intolerances to Gluten, Eggs, Milk, Seafood, coffee, mushrooms, bell peppers, beef, and High fructose corn syrup; stress and anxiety also trigger my inflammation.
/8 I also suffer from secondary peripheral neuropathy from years of inflammation damage to my soft tissues near and round my feet and hands. I have loss of nerve feeling in my feet/hands, and often lose feeling in my limbs when under stress. Sometimes I can’t get out of bed due
/8 to the inflammation expanding tissues in my back, which I have scoliosis. I have what’s called swayback scoliosis. One aspect of EoE in children is that they suffer from fused vertebrae, skeletal muscular issues, and scoliosis is common.
/8 mine was undiagnosed as a kid, same with EoE. So I just continued to eat foods I was intolerant to. I was sick a lot as a kid. After 35 years, I was diagnosed with progressive adult EoE, which is where the damage of years of inflammation has done permanent damage to my body.
/8 Our immune system is a constantly working engine. When it goes nuts, it can be catalyst to other undiagnosed diseases. For this reason, I am still working on my spectrum of diagnosis. There is no cure for EoE, it only goes in remission if the triggers are removed.
/8 I will have this and deal with this for the rest of my life. I have had these intolerances since a child, and now that I’ve ignored them, my body is mad at me and coming for me with a vengeance. It literally feels like your body is attacking you.
/8 one thing is certain, EoE patients with 3 or more dominant food triggers suffer. It’s not a fun day when you can’t eat the food you love anymore. The day you realize I’d you want to heal, you have to eliminate everything. Then still be prepared for new allergies to develop.
/8 This disease is a very new emerging condition with a lot more info out there, more than “just having difficulty swallowing”. Dysphagia is a debilitating condition to sufferers of EoE. But thats just the start!! It’s a real disability, and needs more recognition. #Eoesucks
