Don't know if you have ever heard of the academic tree, it is related to your supervisor, and their supervisor and so on, so you can see your scientific ancestors.

Well, the thing is, I have my supervisor's supervisor's name and his thesis, but I am stuck there, and can't get the next person unless I access their thesis, which is at the University of Nottingham. By the way, hi @sdevans_leeds !

So, I managed to find Richard H. Tredgold's thesis file in the University of Nottingham library website! Quite exciting, as this is from 1954:
