PSA: do not ask service workers who are working on Election Day if they’ve voted. Either they already have/are planning to, or they haven’t and you can’t really do anything about that.
It’s rude, it’s invasive, and it’s stressful. Knock it off.
And if you absolutely must disregard my advice and decide to ask anyway, believe the answer that you get.
Yes, they might be lying because you’re being an invasive creep! Doubling down will not help at all. And it’s much more likely that they’re telling the truth and your disbelief will be infantilizing and insulting.
This thread brought to you by the woman during the midterms who got extremely upset that I wasn’t wearing an “I Voted!” sticker because HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT I HAD VOTED.
You’re... not? You’re here to buy gel pens, lady, leave me alone.
Oh and don’t ask service workers who they voted for. We’re at work, we could get in trouble for talking about politics, and if you don’t like the answer and escalate we will def get in trouble.
(This part of the thread brought to you by a guy who really, really liked Jill Stein and was not prepared for me to call her a “fucking idiot” while I was ringing him up.)
(I did not get in trouble tho)
