When kpop stans finally

Btw this is not a tweet to downplay problems that plague kpop like racism, colourism, ca and the like! It's simply wanting to see that yes, these idols don't see things/haven't been taught the way we do, and therefore don't place value on educating themselves about their fuckups.
The apologies seem hollow, if the affected parties even manage to get one. Not to mention stans trying to hide and/or downplay said incidents.
For e.g. I'm Indian and there are many here that still hold the racist belief that mainland Africans are all poor, all live in huts and are savages who participate in ritualistic cannibalism. Oh, don't forget those weird sounds they make to communicate!/s
Sounds familiar? These are close to some of the things Sam Okyere had to hear living in SK. Why? Because it's been conditioned to us from childhood that this is the way they live. I can recall Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes cartoons that depicted this & definitely influenced me +
to think like that till I read that it was wrong & unlearned it. Media, especially white produced American media imported here has been a huge culprit and has found these beliefs being inserted and reinforced through local media.
I think the focus should be on these: Why are people holding the beliefs that they do? What's the thought process that led them to those beliefs? What kind of environment do they live in to influence them to have these thoughts? If we can understand, then maybe we can try to +
find ways to unlearn these mindsets. Of course, first and foremost the onus is on us to unlearn it ourselves and help others unlearn it too, not the people who are affected by it. But that requires time, effort and empathy, something that I've found most people holding these +
beliefs don't seem to have. It's frustrating and draining and makes you want to give up :///
Ps.This thread is a mess
but it did let me air my frustrations out a bit
