Every pitch is tense, but the outcome of each pitch changes the level of tension. It's like a bunch of tiny emotional roller coasters within one big emotional roller coaster where you're not strapped in and you're sort of just holding on for dear life and hoping for the best. https://twitter.com/damanr/status/1314054925152735233
The exhilaration when a pitch or plate appearance goes your team's way is incredible. The emotional release built up from the repeated miniature adrenaline shots is unlike anything else in sports. Conversely, the letdown is equally devastating.
Your body and brain gear up for everything to go your team's way, and the repeated up and down of every pitch only exaggerates that emotional outburst or letdown. Then when the ball is in play the plays take so long to develop and you don't know the outcome til the very end.
God I love baseball so much.
Don't get it twisted -- I also hate baseball so much. But I only hate it because I love it.
