Alright, today's 24/7 news cycle has rendered the modern debate format irrelevant.
The last several election cycles have been people at lecterns telling us the same talking points we hear on the various "news" sources, regardless of if they'd been debunked.
This isn't the Lincoln/Douglas era, this isn't where you hauled your ass into town to get butter and eggs and hardware AND hear from two people you'd never heard of talk about governance to find out what they think about the train coming through town.
We knew exactly what they were going to say, and in the case of Sen. Harris, say several times when she ran out of talking points.
We need a new format. "Who's Line Is It Anyway" comes to mind.
Goddammit. It's "Whose", isn't it.
