Perhaps like you, I grew up primed to hear this Mike Pence voice and trust the authority behind it. If a doctor or anchor or guy on a plane beside me had this voice, this affect, I was primed to trust it, give it extra due, overcome my own skepticism of its content.

And one of the great things about our time, one of the signs of hope that has helped trigger the backlash of Trumpism, is that faux authority has been revealed for what it is.
