I realize y’all follow me for snarky #Bachelor content and probably don’t care about my personal views, but as a gay physician I can’t stay silent any longer. If I’ve ever made you laugh in a 10k word recap of a reality show, please hear me out.

If you vote for Trump, you’re sending a giant “fuck you” to me and a lot of people like me. Here’s why:

COVID is real. I go to work every day and risk my life treating people with a real disease that we still don’t fully understand. Yet Trump makes a mockery of it and takes off his mask while he’s still contagious and endangers all the people surrounding him.

I have coworkers who have died from COVID because we didn’t have adequate PPE. Trump claims he brought back football, but he can’t bring them back.

I’m also a damn good doctor. But the Trump/Pence administration wants to say it’s okay to fire me for being gay. Are you okay with that? Because voting for this administration is an endorsement for that ideology.

Also, let’s talk about healthcare. The ACA gave millions of people insurance. We shut down our free clinic because we didn’t need it anymore- people had insurance. Should that go away? I don’t think so. The program isn’t perfect, but it’s better than what we had before.

There are still disparities in healthcare. African Americans have worse outcome across the board. Why? White supremacy and a lack of representation in the medical community. Is that an issue that you want to perpetuate? Because voting for Trump guarantees that will continue.

I grew up in Indiana. Mike Pence directly contributed to an HIV outbreak while he was governor because his religious beliefs precluded him from authorizing a needle exchange that science proved would decrease transmission rates. I’m sure Jesus is happy about that shit.

So if you’re cool with raising a giant middle finger to people that risk their lives every day treating COVID, or to members of the LGBTQ+ community like me, then vote from Trump. And please unfollow me. But if you give a fuck about America, the choice is clear. #BidenHarris2020
