So I finished everything contractually required at our old house tonight. We’ve not lived there for 10 months and seeing that we will probably close next week has my head in a tailspin.
We bought that house when I was 25, rent was going up and it was cheaper to buy a house. We said we’d be there until we paid off our $100k of student loans... which is about to happen because of the sale of the house.
We buried my childhood dog there and welcomed a new one. We were married in that house. We grew into adulthood in that house. Driveway movies, game nights, quiet christmases, and busy lives.
I’ve rearranged and used almost every room differently except for the master bedroom before settling on what we used for the last few years. Painted every room myself after the accident with bright cheery colors.
I’ve never lived anywhere as long as I lived in that house, even as a kid. It taught me a lot about home ownership. I am so thankful for our first house, but it’s time is over and I look forward to continuing building this new home.
