Transmedicalism: An informative thread talking about what it really is, and why you should support it.

(Retweets would be appreciated!)
So first off, let's get the basic definition down. Transmedicalism means you want Transgenderism to be medicalized so it can be paid for by things like insurance. It means Transgender people want it to be seen as a sort of medical necessity, so Trans people can transition easily.
MISCONCEPTION ONE:
One misconception that is very popular is that Transmedicalism is a synonym for Truscum. This isn't true. While plenty Truscum's are Transmed, plenty Tucute's are Transmed as well, as we all want to be able to transition smoothly. (TL;DR: Transmed ≠ Truscum.)
MISCONCEPTION TWO:
Another one I see is that people think Transmed's want Transgenderism to be seen as a form of mental illness. This isn't true. We want it to be seen as something scientific and we want transition to be free/cheap to all. This is very simple to understand.
WHY IS FREE/CHEAP TRANSITION IMPORTANT?
It's important for people that are struggling financially. Not being able to transition is detrimental to most and can lead to things like suicide. Transition is a very important thing to Transgender people as we want to be able to -
- relieve stress/dysphoria/etc and it being expensive and not open to most is a bad thing. Being against the idea of Transmedicalism is by definition classist, as you are against the option of open transition to every Transgender person, include poor Trans people.
Thank you for reading to the end, and I hope this was helpful. Please share this as this is an important topic to the Trans community and allies, and we all need to be open to helping every Trans person be happy. If you have anything needing to be clarified or put simpler, -
- please let me know and I will try to answer as fast as possible. I'm open to answering questions as well. Also, please keep things like Exclus/Inclus/Etc battles aside for this thread, as the transition and health of Trans individuals is more important.
