Years ago I walked into the @utahpridecenter without an appointment, staggered into some strange man& #39;s office, and just cried deliriously for 20 minutes before I could manage to say: "I think I& #39;m transgender and I need to talk to someone."
This man, I have no idea who he was, just sat with me and let me cry. And when I was ready to talk he helped connect me with free counseling services. That moment was one of many starting places on the journey that made me who I am today.
You could say, in a small way, that safe space saved my life. At the time, I didn& #39;t have anywhere to turn. I didn& #39;t feel like I could talk to anyone. I had been convinced being trans was such a vile thing that I couldn& #39;t imagine having this conversation with friends or family.
COVID-19 has slammed non-profits and the Utah Pride Center has their road rally coming up. If you could see your way to donate to the cause it would mean a lot to me.
