#EachofUsKillers has been officially out 30 days now. It's had quite the journey (as have I.) I'm deeply grateful that, despite everything and beyond all my expectations, it's received positive attention. Thank you to all who've helped and supported. 🙏 What I've learned:

1/n
1) The publication journey takes many people to get the book from its writer to its readers. The sheer effort and number of people involved is mind-boggling (so far: 5 generous reviews, 15 lovely interviews, 7 virtual events, 10 essay/list publications.) More than a village.

2) While several friends suddenly disappeared from my life, some new ones came along unexpectedly to offer terrific support.

3) Launching a book is a 4-6 month, nearly full-time exercise. It takes certain life privileges to be able to put one's regular life aside to do it.

3/n
4) Did I mention money? It costs a considerable amount of money (either for the publisher or, if it's a small press, for the author) to send out review copies, do book events (thank goodness that cost was avoided this year), enter literary awards, etc.

So, given all these+

+ emotional+financial tolls, I'll be honest: I don't recommend publishing a book unless you have the time, energy, and money to do it. Even then, please be prepared for a rollercoaster of a mystery ride, no matter how well you prepare for it.

Still: deeply thankful. 🙏
