#aotspoilers133 #aot133spoiler #aotchapter133
Yes this is an Armin-related thread please if you don't want to see it, just don't I don't wanna be attacked,
(+ Reiner crumbs!)

Call me biased idc this makes a lot of sense to me
I had fun making this thread! I hope that's a mutual feeling to the reader !! I promise this one isn't as dry as all my other threads, it actually is fun, and I hope y'all read it lol, I'm not expecting, I know it will flop but mhm
We all know the symbolism of “Eyes” in Aot

What I'm trying to say here, is we're aware of the “slave” eyes symbolism here as well

(No no I'm not calling anyone a slave dw)

Due to what the first Fritz king said
“Slaves have no need for two eyes”+
“You are free”
And even when it came to eyes with freedom, Ymir loses her left eye, the same eye Eren sacrificed for his disguise saying he wants them to live happy long lives even when it's associated with freedom

we all knew thks Eren and Ymir “Eye parallelism”
But when it came to actual freedom, who was it?
It was Armin's eyes
Eren says that Armin's “Eyes” are the one ones who opened his view to “freedom”

It's always about the damn eyes

“...and I saw the look in your EYES..
That's when I knew for the first time,
I wasn't FREE”
And considering how MUCH Yams redraws this scene whenever he has the chance to he's literally throwing it on our faces, how important the scene and THE EYES were, here's the redraws I collected, there might be more but that's what I got, some of the panels were literally+
Dedicated to zoom into his eyes, that even Armin himself questions it “My eyes?”
The book and his eyes are always mentioned at some point
And even in Reiner’s character arc, his OWN character arc, Yams is only redrawing it and redrawing it again, a chapter isn't dedicated to neither Armin or Eren, that's just how important the scene was how his eyes opened Eren's view of freedom
He Always has to mention him
We notice that all Ymir's appearances were her eyes covered, because of the “slave don't need eyes” ideology
Even her titan formt
The only single time we actually got to see what her eyes looked like
Was when Eren “Freed” her
We got to see them clearly which confirms that ideology and breaks her away from it

Who's a 'slave' on attack on titan?
It's simple someone who has their freedom hambered by someone
Since we got to see her eye, she's 'free'
Going back to Eren,
When he tells Zeke that he's eager to 'view' that SIGHT with his eyes

We were all just wondering whatever tf that sight was supposed to be

Only to be hit that it was in fact associated with Armin
I'll be linking my previous short analysis it will help understanding this,

That scenery was his dream, of seeing the outside world, in fact freedom, with Armin, infact the person who opened his view of it

“Finally, WE are her at last, this is THAT sight, right, Armin?”
Now in the recent, we see both Eren and Ymir, back in that state,
Yeah remember?
“Slaves don't need eyes”
Does it look familiar?
Yeah this.
You can compare the eyes of 'freedom' and the eyes of the ideology
Eren now shares the eyes of the ideology with Ymir
Leaving us with Armin
And now that he shares it, we're left with the eyes that first opened them, Armin's.

Reiner's Arc and Armin's role :

A little extra, calling back to Reiner, I will try to make it fast

I said even in his own character arc we get to see Yams redrawing that book scene
In 132, Armin was ready to put himself in the risk of fighting the titans to buy the alliance some time, when Reiner declines and shouts

“NO, NOT YOU!! YOU'RE THE ONLY CHANCE WE HAVE OF STOPPING EREN!!”

The words literally speak for themselves

But what makes it more special is
That Reiner is the one who said it, if someone else said it it will have potential since they literally called Armin the only hope of stopping him, but the fact that it's Reiner gives it double the meaning of any other characters would have, why?
It's something approved by Eren himself
“I'm the same as you, Reiner”
He's implying that they went through the same experiences
Enough for him to understand him
As far as calling him “The same”
And Reiner approves back
WITH THE SAME SCENE Eren told him that they were the same
“I.. I feel like I kind of understand what Eren's thinking”
Like they both said it
He KNOWS what Eren WANTS
Refusing to sacrifice Armin, because he himself said that YOU'RE the only hope
And his own character arc we get to see a glimpse of a young and bored Eren looking at the sky saying “Ah.. I wish something would happen..”
And then Armin “There you are, Eren!!” knowing what happens after changes everything
And in general calling back to 85, this line, with all the eyes of freedom and eyes of ideology and Reiner Armin stuffs I hope I gave off a better idea.
