we’re all concerned about climate change and what we can do to mitigate certain ecological collapse within the next decade, demsocs are fond of the gnd as it instates clean energy policies + creates jobs within this sector, dramatically cuts back co2 emissions etc etc
however this cannot be implemented beneath these current conditions without continued exploitation of the global south. let’s take a recent example, the rightwing coup that occurred in bolivia backed by u.s interests
as soon as morales was ousted, elon musk was invited by this government to bring his private business there as there’s plenty of lithium mines which are essential for powering electric car batteries. communists saw this coming from a mile away, however mainstream media continued-
*creating, not powering. MSM continued to push the narrative that morales was a “dictator”, that the results of their last election were illegitimate, and therefore this socialist needed to be removed from power. with him gone it would be easier to privatize these industries
this pattern has been replicated across the global south by imperialist powers. social democratic countries (the nordic model that socdems like sanders love to use as an example of ‘socialism’) is not exempt from this! with capitalism, the relationship with countries like bolivia
and western imperialists will not change. the people will continue to suffer at the hands of billionaires who will profit immensely from implementing the GND, all the while pacifying the working class because we get a handful of material gains
when socialists reject the GND and name it as a form of ‘ecofascism’ (which encompasses a variety of false narratives) we’re pointing out that this deal leaves out the poor, black and brown people that are most effected internationally
it doesn’t prevent coups backed by foreign powers, it doesn’t eliminate the cobalt mines (which are equally essential to electric cars) in the congo which utilizes child labor, and without a bonafide socialist revolution, it won’t mitigate climate change

inb4 people start quoting this and whining about how “online leftists” will never be satisfied with anything blah blah blah—might i remind you half measures are the reason why things have gotten as ugly as they have? we don’t have time for lukewarm solutions to this crisis?
we certainly do not have time for social democrats like AOC to be watering down radical ideas for the sake of being ‘palpable’. if we don’t address the whole truth, we risk the future of human civilization as we know it
