This weekend is the Thanksgiving long weekend. I know this isn't the type of holiday anyone would want and that no amount of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie can replace the presence of your extended family. /1
Our advice is clear:
Please do not hold big Thanksgiving gatherings.
Please limit your Thanksgiving dinners and other gatherings to people you live with, under the same roof, all of the time.
And if you live alone, the safest option is to join with others virtually. /2

It doesn't mean you can't find ways to have a happy Thanksgiving and I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving as different as it may be this year.
But please remember, your actions this weekend will help us stop the spread of #COVID19 and will protect your loved ones. /3

It is one more sacrifice people are being asked to make during this crisis and as @JustinTrudeau says – following the rules, difficult as it may be at Thanksgiving, will give us a shot at a Christmas with all of the trimmings, including healthy family members. /4
I also want to thank people who are following public health advice and changing their plans to respect that advice. It’s the right thing to do. /End
