Personal covid & track and trace experience a thread.

I started coughing on Saturday morning. Swab booked via government website test that afternoon. Pretty impressed with speed of test. Isolated with family since. Felt a bit of a fraud. 1

Result still not back 65 hours later I’ve missed one shift already and due on call next day. Swab came back positive 72 hours after it was taken.

76 hours after my swab I am texted and emailed by NHS test and trace. I fill in some forms about my household and movements. 2

Then nothing. No calls. Nothing. The online forms don’t allow me to put my kids movements in. Or if it does it’s not obvious.

I contact the school. The school state as my kids are asymptomatic they do not need to contact the parents in the class. 3

So my kids who I cuddle and kiss then who go and sit in a classroom with 29 unmasked kids are apparently not of interest as a possible source of my infection or risk of transmission for the other kids and their families. 4

Even though we know children do not display typical symptoms of covid like adults do?! This is nuts.

Filling in an online track and trace form is not contact tracing. You need a trained human to interview, prompt and ask questions. None of this is good enough. Fin
