8/ There's another difference. I suspect if India's envoy in Taipei wanted to publish an op-ed in a newspaper in Taiwan, a democracy, he could. 9/ China's letter/warning to "Indian media friends" is not the only in place in South Asia that such suggestions have been doled out. 10/ Now, if India wants to highlight that it's a contrast to China, that's one more reason why Indian officials should refrain from going after press they don't like.
