Hi friends, some personal news:

Today I’m launching a new Substack called *The Phoenix*, because the world is on fire and we’ve got to build a new one from the ashes.

This is a publication for climate revolutionaries.

I'm so ready. Subscribe here:

For years, I've repeated these words: We are in a climate emergency.

Now, I’m ready to take the next step.

Real change comes by demanding justice and a world that works for everyone.

Because we need to see what we’re fighting for, not just what we’re fighting against.
My main goal with The Phoenix is to change the narrative of the climate movement.

We've got to shift climate storytelling away from inevitable apocalypse towards the possibility of a better world; towards catastrophic success not catastrophic failure.

I can't do this alone.
If I’ve learned anything in 2020, it’s that the old world isn’t coming back.

If we’re going to build a better world that works for everyone, WE are the ones who are going to have to do that work, together.

We were born at exactly the right time to change everything.
The long-predicted fires and floods have given way to the hardening of borders and an ever-slipping grasp on our ability to imagine *all this* for very much longer.

After centuries of systemic racism and colonialism and extractive capitalism, our world is at a turning point.
So where do we go from here?

That's the story I want to tell at The Phoenix.

I’m not here just to talk. I’m here to create change.
Here's what you can expect at The Phoenix:

- Stories from frontline communities leading in the climate emergency.

- Science that helps build power for revolutionary change.

- A space to process the shared trauma and joy that comes along with doing this world-building work.
My goal is to build a community where we'll help teach each other about what’s happening in this transformative moment, and how we can be a part of it.

I’ll use this space to ask you for help. I’ll share resources and pass the mic. We’ll cry together. It’ll be great.
I am convinced that the next few years will be among the most important in all of human history – transcendent, even – because they simply must be.

If you agree, let's do that work together.
The Phoenix will be totally free for the first three months, and there will always be scholarships for folks who can't afford it.

The point is to grow our community so we can do this work together.

I can't wait to get started. 🔥🌿
