G. O. A. T album review // A thread @diljitdosanjh :
1. Intro : This was so well executed (well the entire album was). He talked about his entire journey from start to finish and his achievements while giving people motivation to never give up and keep hustling.
2. G. O. A. T (Title Track) : Diljit was looking slick as ever in the video with a James Bond esque suit on one side and casual Nike clothing on another. He was having fun and talking about his feats along with his girl (nonexistent in real life). The beat was great too.
3. Clash : This track had an old school production vibe to it. The samples were taken from a 90s jazz record in the beginning and went into boom bap. This was just a catchy, laid back track to listen to while driving. Really well done.
4. Navi Navi Yaari : I won't lie, I didn't feel this one in the start. It's slightly slower paced to my liking, but he was talking about a relatable subject which is a crush, which we all develop sometime or another. It grew on me after a few listens.
5. Peed : Yeah yeah, "peed" haha so funny gtfo. This is a love song and as I've mentioned before, I don't listen to love tracks often. It's a skip for me but it's a good track overall I'd have to say.
6. Taare : Now this caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting an upbeat romantic record from diljit after do you know. The production is well done on it, it's a different theme than I'm personally used to with punjabi songs.
7. Track Suit : Nimrat Khaira and Diljit just flew so well over this incredibly catchy instrumental. Their duo brought an amazing aura to the track and it's one of my personal favorites. 10/10 for this track.
8. Faraar : (I skip it every time cuz as I said before extremely sluggish beats and production is not my cup of tea take that how you will)
9. Jatti : This seemed like Laembadgini part 2 for some reason. The production and delivery was done in a really similar fashion. I enjoy this from time to time but not a must play.
10. Akh Laal Jatt Di : Any amount of praise is a disservice to how fire this record is. The lyrics are very relatable to today's context of a rich dude coming from humble beginnings. How Diljit delivered it was just marvelous, I couldn't be happier with this.
11. Pyaar : (Melancholic/love tracks not my thing so a skip for me, as I'm not a fair judge of this I feel)
12. Habit : This was a breath of fresh air from all the hype tracks I've been listening to from this album. Chill and laid back production with Diljit just talking about hanging out with his friends and playing music from older artists. Voila!
13. Range : Even though I don't enjoy love songs, this one kept my ear. A unique delivery and feel to it really helped me glued to listening to it over and over. Diljit did well as always and It was produced beautifully too.
14. Patola : (The unorthodox flow was a turnoff for me. I didn't enjoy it so it's a skip for me most of the time, even though it's a decent track)
15. Whiskey : Ah, my favorite track is here. The way Diljit lowered and raised his voice between the start and end of a segment, along with a hip and extremely upbeat instrumental solidified it as my favorite. *Chef kiss*
16. Born to shine : Similar situation to Navi navi yaari, I didn't really get into it within a few listens. After a dozen listens it really grew on me. A different take on being ostentatious and flaunting, he indirectly told people to not care about money and apply themselves.
