7 truths that most people forget.

1. Happiness comes from pursuit of a goal, not achievement of a goal. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬆️" title="Pfeil nach oben" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach oben">

What we’re really after is the transformation from doing the work towards X. Not from X itself.

Ask yourself: If you got what you wanted right now, without doing all the work, would you truly be happy?
2. You can’t convince everybody to adopt your mindset. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🧠" title="Gehirn" aria-label="Emoji: Gehirn">

You can tell someone exactly how to improve their life.

But unless that person wants to…they never will.

A positive mindset may not be possible for those already set in their own mind.
3. Most people never watch their thoughts, they only experience them. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="💭" title="Gedankenblase" aria-label="Emoji: Gedankenblase">

How to reduce overthinking: Recognize what thoughts you can’t control in the first place.

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” - Marcus Aurelius
4. School teaches you how to study, not how to learn. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="📚" title="Bücher" aria-label="Emoji: Bücher">

Formal education teaches you to perform well on exams.

Self-education teaches you to perform well in life.

Books, social media, courses, newsletters and more are at your fingertips.

You now have to make the curriculum.
5. The majority care more about proving themselves right, than finding out what’s actually right. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="💯" title="Hundert Punkte Symbol" aria-label="Emoji: Hundert Punkte Symbol">

So they unfollow accounts, watch only certain news, and do everything to convince them of their correctness.

Be open to all ideas, especially those that not on your ‘side.’
6. There’s a difference between feeling productive and being productive. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="✅" title="Fettes weißes Häkchen" aria-label="Emoji: Fettes weißes Häkchen">

Feeling productive:
- Writing out long to-do lists
- Passively reading a book a week

Being productive:
- Actually doing 3-5 critical things per day
- Reading and applying a handful of books
7. There’s no reason to wait. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⏱️" title="Stoppuhr" aria-label="Emoji: Stoppuhr">

“Take your 10-year life plan and ask, why can’t I do this in six months?” - Peter Thiel

Short-term goals become long-term goals when maintaining comfort is put over the rewards from discomfort.
The only permission you need is your own.

Stop telling yourself you have to do X and Y before Z.

Just go straight to Z.
