A little thread about looking after yourself (because I'm practicing and I'm proud, also to encourage others):
It's been a busy few weeks. Lots of important meetings that seem uncancelable. Lots of deadlines (not just sadlines, actual deadlines). (1/5)

I already had to made the hard decision to cancel some conference talks, because the situation with my mum will remain touch and go for a while. It's hard to be creative like that and I don't want to force my tired brain. I hate cancelling but people have understood
(2/5)

And today I realised I needed some space. Space to not be in too many meetings. Space to get some things done. So I stayed in home office, and I cancelled or moved meetings that seemed uncancelable. (3/5)
Then I had space. And unfortunately the space made me realise that I'm very tired. And apparently I've had a low grade headache for a couple of days. Instead of beating myself up, I decided to listen to my body. I took a nap. (4/5)
After the nap, I got almost everything done I needed to in half the time it would have taken me had I forced myself.
Today, I dehamstered. I recommend it.
The world is stressful right now, let's look after ourselves

As an addition... I fully expected to not manage anything after the nap. That would have been fine too. I'd have had to move things tomorrow as well.
Stretching myself too much will buy me a day here, and cost me multiple days later. (6/5)

And I dithered for ages about writing this. Because I still have an internal survival rule that talking about this stuff is not ok - especially for a CEO.
But we're all also humans. And it's ok to look after yourself. It's actually imperative. (7/5)
