Since I'm talking #films if you're not familiar with English writer/director/musician Mike Figgis, and you like a balance of stylization and verisimilitude in drama, then I'd check out his work. He's best known for LEAVING LAS VEGAS (1995), based on the gut-punch novel...
...by the late John O'Brien (who sadly took his own life at 33 years old, rest in peace).

LEAVING LAS VEGAS was my first introduction to Figgis, but then I went back and watched his earlier film, STORMY MONDAY (1988), starring Sean Bean, Sting, Tommy Lee Jones, Melanie Griffith
STORMY MONDAY is a late 80's noir, and modern noir has always been my jam. Great performances and mood in the film. Figgis wrote it, I believe. Definitely track it down, especially if GAME OF THRONES is your only Sean Bean reference.
Figgis made the kind of films that don't really get made anymore, or when they do, they sort of get lost in streaming. Sometimes found, eventually. Adult dramas. Stylized. Explorations of relationships and life choices. That sort of thing. What I really admire about Figgis...
...is he composed original music for a lot of his films. His (1998?) film ONE NIGHT STAND isn't universally loved, but I appreciate things about it, especially the music Figgis wrote for it. Here's "I'd like you to stay" from that soundtrack.
