I did a rough breakdown of Real Madrid's chances (more accurately, xG) in their first 4 league games this season, classifying them by type, time, and match state.

Will try to post it later tonight.
Alright, let's start !
Here's the breakdown by period of the game.

1st half: 0.69 xG/game.
2nd half: 1.59 xG/game.

'Funny' fact : Over their 4 league games, Real Madrid produced more xG in extra time (0.69) than they did between the 16th & 30th minute (0.62).
No surprises here.
1-It's easy to see that Real Madrid take time to start producing a good amount/quality of chances.
2-The first minutes of the 2nd half is when they often show the most aggressiveness.

Also, this is skewed by the minutes when RM were playing vs 10-men Betis.
Next is breakdown by state (all are xG/90).

The "trailing" part isn't useful on its own as it covers a very short period.

Still, you can see how, once excluding mins v 10 men, Real Madrid creates well below 2.00 xG/90 when drawing and does much better (36% better) when leading.
Finally, breakdown by chance type (Again, all are xG/90)

This seems to suggest that Real Madrid are doing great in terms of creating chances via proper buildup but, there's a HUGE asterisk : 40% of the xG via buildup came in the 31 mins vs 10-man Betis.

Not good, safe to say.
To be perfectly clear, I didn't use a strict numerical criteria in classifying the types of chances. If you want to know on what basis I made any classification, just ask.

Safe to say, though, that I was more generous in counting a chance as "via buildup" than most would be.
