Firstly, let’s start with his final Championship season. Villa were looking at another season of Championship football before Grealish returned from a long term injury and led us on a 10 game winning streak, including goals against Derby and Blues to take us to the Play Offs
Last season, in his first top flight season in 3 years, Jack scored 8 goals, including goals against United, Burnley and West Ham to get us crucial points to keep us up. He also got 6 assists, making it 14 G/A, more than any other English Midfielder
Grealish also made his England debut (long overdue). Despite playing just 15 minutes, he created more chances than half of the other England players on the pitch.
Speaking of chances created, last season Jack created a massive 91 chances in the Premier League. That’s second to only Kevin De Bruyne in the Prem and the 4th highest in Europe. One of the players he bettered in this category was a certain Lionel Messi
On Sunday, Grealish put in one of the greatest performances seen in Premier League History, against one of the greatest sides England has ever seen, recording 2 goals and 3 assists on the night. An 11/10 performance
But that was only one game? Not to worry. Despite Heung Min Son and James Rodriguez‘s fantastic starts to the season, Grealish betters both of them thus far. A reminder both of these players are considered World class, and for good reason
Some rival fans seem to ignore the fact Grealish is class and put it down to a “good performance” in one game. A lot of one game performances seen here...
Overall? Grealish is far clear of any other English midfielder. I don’t want to hear Mount, Alli or Maddison comparisons or see any of them starting over him for England. Grealish is so far clear of all of them. Take note @GarethSouthgate
