In 2012, @redcoathistory was embedded with the Royal Marine Commandos in Helmand, Afghanistan.

This is where this picture, with an honestly quite haunting and beautiful background, was taken.

Years later, Christian tried to work out where he actually was — and with some geolocation methods, he thinks he got it!

But I don't want to spoil it for you. Can you try to figure out where he was? What methods would you use, and why?

This is not just a challenge, of course, it's also a lens on recent and not so recent history
