- show me the money is a korean tv show produced by mnet.
- it is on national television like shows including produce 101, running man, happy together etc.
- it was created in 2012 with its first season called 'show me the money'

- it has run every year since 2012 up until 2020 with every season being named 'show me the money 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 777, 8' and now 9.
- the show is a rap competition show judged by professional korean hip hop rappers (not idols)
- each season's format is different

- show me the money was the first korean tv show to focus on underground rap and made the korean public (netizens) become more educated and interested in korean hip hop artists that they may have never heard of (i know majority of my favourite rappers from show me the money too)

- the typical season consists of contestants going head to head in a series of challenges until one rapper remains
- the show includes a mixture of rookie rappers from the ages of 14 to experienced rappers in their 30s-40s
- this show isn't a show for idols, it is not friendly

- the producers/mentors of season 1 included:
double k, verbal jint, 45rpm, mc sniper, miryo, hoony hoon, joosuc and garion.
- some notable contestants include cheetah who won 'unpretty rapstar', and the winner of the first season loco. who then signed under jay park's label aomg

- season 2 included:
two teams mentored by mc meta from garion and lee hyun do from deux

- this season held open auditions in la for the first time with guest judge timbaland
- this season had the most popular contestants so far

- some of which included g2, reddy, cjamm, bizniz, onesun, jin doggae, j'kyun, xitsuh, snacky chan, one, sanchez, dayday, junoflo, myundo, superbee, astro's jinjin, woodz and flowsik
- the winner of season 5 was bewhy
- this was also when i first watched show me the money :)

- season 6 included:
the mentors were paired into teams zico and dean, choiza and gaeko from dynamic duo, tiger jk and bizzy and jay park and dok2
- this season was the biggest by far
- other seasons had an average of 9,000 auditions whereas season 6 had over 12,000

- american artist and producer swizz beats was a special judge and auditions were held in new york for the first time
- this season had my favourite lineup at the time despite me being an ikonic and loving season 3, season 6 was just something else

instead of having producer pairs season 8 changed it up to two teams with 4 producers/mentors each including swings, kid milli, mad clown and boycold and the other with verbal jint, giriboy, bewhy and millic

- this season included olltti, bully, dbo, chillin homie, woodie gochild, zene the zilla, mckdaddy, yunhway, donutman, lil tachi, kim seungmin, yunb, choilb, jjangyou (my bae), ek, bryn, takuwa, seo donghyun (big naughty), young b
- and the winner king punchnello

- season 9 will be aired on october 16th 2020, and we probably won't get subtitles for two whole years lol
- the mentors will be dynamic duo and bewhy, paloalto and code kunst, zion.t and giriboy and justhis and groovyroom (i'm so excited for this last team omg)

- here is the way that the episodes usually work/run
- first round is an open audition and the producers go around listening to short raps without beats
- if they like the rap or think that person is ready for smtm they'll give them a chain and they'll advance to round two
