Thread on KG's Sadyr Japarov

- Parliamentary spox told AFP (twice) that he is acting PM
- He says he is "the only legitimate" PM
- Says he thinks Jeenbekov should resign
- Says he hasn't spoken to Jeenbekov but is ready to
- Doesn't recognise 1st opposition Coordination Council
He has called the Ata-Meken + Chon Kazat folk currently inside the PM building "counter-revolutionaries."

So he is positioning himself as a revolutionary. But he is also asking people to stop rallying. In other words, he has power, or something like it. You can go home now.
On the night lawmakers apparently voted for him to become PM -- a lot of conjecture about how many were there, who voted by proxy and so on -- Japarov had his 11.5 year hostage-taking and other crimes conviction overturned, a necessary pre-requisite for him to become PM.
Was the judiciary bought or threatened? It is a brave judge that would go against a president, even one as embattled as Jeenbekov. Would the supreme court verdict have happened without blessing from above? What is above? Matraimov?
Also, while there are disputes about the number of lawmakers that supported his candidacy (parliamentary press spox insisted today that 65 did) how did it come to pass that any of them supported him at all? A pro-government parliament backing a "revolutionary" PM? 🤔
My colleague and I tried to ring a number of lawmakers who supposedly voted to put Japarov forward as acting PM yesterday. Nobody is answering. Pro-government lawmakers appear to be petrified. Jeenbekov has said nothing on Japarov. Is he petrified too?
