Yesterday my son figured how to use an ad blocker extension to block both class kick and google slides so it looked like his computer was glitching. He just couldn’t bring himself to do an afternoon of independent, asynchronous elearning.
Last week he faked sick to avoid school and ended up earning himself a covid test (as they doctors just wanted to be sure). It was negative. I didn’t see his struggle then. But yesterday, I saw it plain as day. He just decided, I can’t, and I won’t.
My husband and I both have masters degrees. We have set up learning spaces for them in our home. We upgraded our wifi. They have every supply they need. I am an instructional coach for crying out loud. We have done everything we can to help our kids through this time.
Teachers who think kids are lazy, who are failing kids, who are not having grace about missing work, who do not understand why after 7 MONTHS the kids are just DONE with this......I don’t understand you. I don’t agree with you. And you are not helping kids.
I’m usually way nicer on Twitter. But I just can’t anymore.
