Amazing women. But. Where is the guy who first finished this work and submitted the paper on the same thing?
Very interesting choice, @NobelPrize committee.
Let's talk about flaws in publishing and recognition. All is described by @Nature : https://go.nature.com/3iAJFhv
#siksnys https://twitter.com/NobelPrize/status/1313778075356798976
In 2012, the lab sent a paper to @CellCellPress , where it was rejected without review. Gasiunas then submitted the paper (April) to the @PNASNews and waited.
A few months later, while Gasiunas and #Siksnys paper was still under review, the now-legendary Jinek paper was submitted (June 8), accepted (June 20) and published (August 17) in @ScienceMagazine .
Meanwhile Gasiunas/ #Siksnys paper was already received for review at #PNAS on May 21, approved August 1. Published September 25. The Cell rejected-without-review paper was submitted in April.
And because of the reviewers at PNAS and a weird @CellCellPress act - Siksnyshe is now not getting the @NobelPrize . Nobel prize committee - you could do better.
