I rewatched the game last night whilst the wife watched Bake Off - here is my take on Villa assets

1) Martinez - 6 saves (75%) - alot at crucial times in game. He has made a huge difference already

With Mings, Konsa & Luiz in front of him I think he'll be one of top scoring goalkeepers. Best set & forget imo

2) Villa defence - if not on Martinez, then Id go Konsa. Cheaper than Mings & Villa are great a set pieces (scored from set piece in every league match so far)

Having seen the performances of Maguire & Gomez then Konsa will surely fancy his chances of getting in the England squad.

3) Trezeguet - under to radar so far but has been one of villa's unsung heroes. Works tirelessly for the team & did in fact create 3 big chances v Liverpool

4) McGinn - getting back to his best. Niw has 1 goal & 3 assists in 2 matches. Brilliant assist on grealish goal

5) Barkley - @PlanetFPLPod was spot on he played as a support striker & was tasked with making late runs to beat liverpool high line

6 shots including 1 big chance. Could easily of had a hattrick, although was lucky to be credited with goal as shot looked to be going wide.

Great link up with JG - keen to see where Ross plays v Leics. Have a feeling he'll be used as an 8, 10 & support striker this season

On Barkley I expect he'll be on pens. Anyone who demands penalties as chelsea (took some last preseason & stole ball off jorginho) will have no problem demanding this responsibility at villa. JG is reluctant to take them & watkins has a terrible record

6) Watkins - always said he loves a big chance and had 4 vs villa. Exceptional value and will get loads of chances with grealish, barkley & co supplying him. Incredible value - better option than maupay, wilson imo

7) and finally, on to the main man ....

As @sujanshah said it was as close to a 10/10 performance that you will see. Both sofascore & whoscored agreed giving him 10. With better players around him he has gone to a new level.

I always felt he needed to score more to become an elite player - he already had 3 goals...

2 of which have come from big chances. He also created 5 chances (2 big chances), resulting in 3 assists

The pass for watkins 2nd goal, arguably one of the goals of the season, was sublime as was his nutmeg on the great vvd.

I expect big things from Jack this season

As @PlanetFPLPod pointed out i have opted to bring in Son & Kane ahead of villa assets, this is because i want to see how we do v leicester.

Grealish, Barkley & Watkins are all on my radar. Im keen to see Barkley play at least once more before deciding which 2 to go for
