A Thread of the MOST CONTROVERSIAL MOVIES and TV SHOWS ever.

1. THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST

This movie has been accused of being to brutal and violent especially scenes depicting the punishment of Christ and his crucifixion. This movie was also accused of being antisemitic...
meaning, it's believed to be prejudiced against Jews and considering that Mel Gibson, the director of this movie has on so many occasions been accused of speaking ill against Jews, that accusation seem to be true. Finally the movie was accused of not being historically accurate.
2. THE DAVINCI CODE

The movie was adapted from a fiction novel by the same name written by author Dan Brown. It is so controversial because of the theories put forth by Dan Brown, which states that Mary Magdalene is the Holy Grail and that Jesus Christ was married to...
Mary Magdalene. The movie also says that they had a child together and that Christ’s descendants are walking the Earth today and that the Catholic Church covered up the truth about Christ’s marriage for nearly two thousand years.
3. GAME OF THRONES

Arguably one of the best TV shows ever, Game of Thrones isn't without it's controversy; from Khal Drogo practically raping Danaerys in season 1 to Ramsay Bolton raping Sansa and making Theon watch and then Jaime raping Cersei next to the body...
of their dead son and then Cersei forcing herself on Jaime later on in the series, it is clear that rape was a common aspect of the show and it was criticised specifically for that.
4. 12 YEARS A SLAVE

This movie was made based on an autobiography but there were some scenes in the movie that were fabricated and never happened in the book. For example, the scene where the kidnapped freeman Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), has a painful sexual encounter...
with an unnamed female slave in which she uses his hand to bring herself to orgasm before turning away in tears. This entirely emotional scene is all a lie! Others accused the movie of being too violent and brutal while others just didn't want the film made in the first place.
5. GHOST IN THE SHELL

Based on a Japanese anime, this movie stars Scarlet Johannson in the lead role playing an Asian character. This movie has been criticised for white washing and racism seeing as the director even tried to use VFX to make Scarlet Johannson look more Asian.
6. 24

24 is one of the best TV shows ever made but it had it's problems too. It was heavily criticised for it's justification of misuse of government authority, it's use of torture as well as being racist and anti Muslim.
7. NYMPHOMANIAC

Sex! Sex!! Sex!!! This movie is filled with so much sex that it caused an uproar. By sex I mean actual sex. Starring Shia LaBeouf, the sex in this movie looks so real but in actuality, the actors are only simulating sex while the genitalia of porn actors...
hired for the movie were put in using CGI making it seem like the lead actors are actually having unsimulated sex. This caused a lot of criticism for this movie and it's second part that was released later on.
8. 50 SHADES OF GREY

Another movie based on a book but failed to completely adapt the richness of the book. As a sex fantasy, it has been criticised for sexual harassment, for confusing BDSM with abuse and for romanticising abusive relationships. It's also been called sexist.
9. CUTIES

This movie, released last month, caused alot of uproar. Netflix was criticised for promoting pedophilia and for over sexualising children. I mean look at the poster for the movie before and after Netflix bought it. These kids are just 13 years old ffs! Why?¿??¿??
10. BATTLE ROYALE

A movie which had children killing children was bound to raise some red flags. This movie is believed to have caused copycat killings in real life and was criticised for that. Japanese politicians even sort to ban the movie entirely because of it's plot.
11. 13 REASONS WHY

This show tackled alot of very uncomfortable topics that alot of people aren't ready to talk about openly yet. From depression to cyber bullying, rape and even suicide. However, it received it's harshest criticism for the scene where Hanna actually...
slits her own wrists, killing herself. People said it was too graphic and could give people in real life who've experienced what Hanna experienced ideas on how to end their life. The backlash was so great that Netflix had to edit that scene out from the first season.
12. ANTICHRIST

This film was directed by the same director of NYMPHOMANIAC. It angered the Catholic Church and has been accused of so much misogyny, and violence and it has also been called an abomination. It was also referred to as a "BIG FAT ART FILM FART".
13. THE BIRTH OF A NATION

Believed to win multiple oscars, this movie ended up being a failure after accusations of rape against the director and one of the writers of the film resurfaced. The director (Parker) had been acquitted in the case and the writer was convicted but...
his conviction was overturned on appeal but when these accusations were made known, people refused to support the movie and when it was discovered that the girl who was allegedly raped by Parker in 1999 had committed suicide and died in 2012, Parker was essentially blackballed.
14. EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS

Firstly, an almost entirely white cast was announced to play characters from Middle Eastern and African descent and the movie was called out for white washing and racism. Then the historical inaccuracies in the movie when it was released...
was enough to have it banned in Egypt for being Zionist and creating a false impression that Moses and the Jews built the pyramids of Egypt.
