Interesting to see Rishi Sunak talking about “balancing the books”. Good news is that he can start by clawing back millions (billions!) from erroneously awarded contracts. Even better news is that he & his colleagues know most of the recipients, so reclaiming will be a doddle.

The way this govt has used the pandemic to award contracts of eye-watering value to spurious companies, that almost always have direct links to those in charge, is a national scandal. Yet there is no scrutiny, no accountability and on they go.

Need an extra few million during these dark times? Set up a company that promises PPE equipment and get your mate in the cabinet to award the contract. No mates in the govt? Ah. Sorry. Then you need to retain and get a new job, my son.

If you’re not angry, you aren’t paying attention. Never has a government cared for the people it purports to serve less. They are an unmitigated disgrace. An appalling cabal comprising the worst of what this country has to offer.
