So my first ATM pin was '5150'.
Which is the name of the first Van Halen album to feature Sammy Hagar on vocals. But the number means a lot to me because it's also the name of the song which started with this beautiful D-Major riff.

It made me do something i hadn't done before.
I was a bassy & had been honing my bass skills. This riff made me want to LEARN it! So i did. I remember borrowing a distortion pedal from my college friend Benin and going through tabs.
It took me days but finally i could play it

And i knew i couldnt play all the other super-human virtuosic things he achieved on the guitar, but this i could. And i did.
My first proper self-learn riff (dad taught smoke on the water earlier)
So 5150 became a big part of my life.

The iconic guitar riff to Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' was by Steve Lukather of Toto and the blistering solo was by EVH.
Legend has it that when Quincy Jones called EVH and said MJ wants to talk, EVH called it a prank and slammed the phone down! Quincy had to call again!

EVH and Dr. Brian May of Queen spent a day noodling around playing these 3 brilliant tracks inspired by a Japanese anime Brian's son was watching. Pay attention at the 13:47 mark when Eddie breaks a string with a super bend but keeps soloing!

Eddie Van Halen revolutionized the world of guitar playing. He initially started off as a drummer but shifted to guitar when his younger brother said he wanted to play drums.
Today as I listen to the massive catalogue of work he's got i remember his lovely smile and grin :)
