In 2018, one of the happiest days of my life was being able to get a transit visa to London, explore the city through the narration of Uber drivers, on my way to have pie.
It felt like a dream.
It felt like a dream.
My layover was 21 h, it was such an exhausting flight too. I figured Iād try my luck and see if Iād be able to get one (Esp given my passport + airport luck etc). The universe was kind to me, I got one, and I stepped out not quite believing my luck.
This may sound silly but I never thought Iād be able to actually visit London so early on in life. I donāt know how to explain how unbelievable it all felt to me.
So what was the one thing I really wanted to do? I wanted to have a good pie.
I looked up a few places, the highest-rated one was almost 30 minutes away. I decided to go for it because who tf cared. I was in a city I had no biz being in, that whole day felt like an adventure.

It was 4-5pm and I was puzzled at how it was night time already, it was raining too. I love the rain but I was low key confused at why it was so dark.
I had a great conversation with the uber driver, he took a longer route so I could see some of the more āfamousā spots from

From the window. It worked out for both of us. I was fascinated, and it was cool to hear his perspective of the Gulf and āDubaiā.
We were both brown but weād had such different lives. We came from different backgrounds, but we both felt this natural ease re culture and identity

We connected on that, and spoke about different things.
There were these beautiful lights on the streets and the whole scene rit like it was out of a magical story.
I went to Mother Mash and had pie by myself. Itās one of the best pies Iāve had in my life.

I sat on the solo seats facing outside, and I had my sparkling water. I was trying to savour every bit of itā the present, the memory it would become, the taste of the food.
There was a couple sitting on one of the tables outside and two women on the other table.

It was cold outside, but warm indoors. I was people watching, observing the busy street, groups of people whoād been shopping pass by, the lights still magical.
Here I was, sitting here by myself, having one of the best days of my life, trying to cherish every second of it.

I took a photo, knowing Iād look back at it. Iām not much of a selfie person, and I didnāt have anyone to take a photo of me so the pie one is all I have.
I wanted to explore the area, it was getting late so I decided Iād walk around (and hopefully not look like a lost tourist)
