Nothing to do about his political view. It’s about him breaking the non-negotiable set in Arteta team. First for lack of efforts in training in the first few weeks before Project Restart (his excuse was lack of sleep due to newly born child) and for refusing the pay cut. #Ozil https://twitter.com/TowyArya/status/1313564839789256705
Arsenal executives agreed their own pay cut of 30% facing “one of the most challenging periods" in club history. Then Arteta led the talk with the playing staff, including players. He convinced them to take the pay cut. Finally almost every players on board with 12.5% pay cut.
Then Ozil, the highest paid player in the club right now, also the highest paid employee of the club with 350K/week, didn’t agree with the pay cut. Arsenal can’t force because it’s voluntary. Can you imagine how the other staff and players who agreed with the pay cut look at it?
It almost canceled the whole agreement between Arteta, the club, and the players. Ozil being branded as selfish and not thinking about the club and only himself. If I were his teammate I will look at how Arteta will respond. It’s a slap in your face after all the long talks.
So Arteta sidelined him, you didn’t wish to become part of the team, you can go elsewhere. Obviously there is no club can pay him that much. Then the 55 redundancies, and Ozil bragging to his teammates in training, I’ve told you so... Imagine if you’re in the position of Arteta.
It’s three months to another transfer window. Arteta decided to evolve the squad without Ozil. They will try to move him again in January so I guess Ozil will not be registered as squad player for PL. That’s why he tweeted about Gunnersaurus as retaliation to shame the club.
For me no player is bigger than the club. And Arteta is currently the face of the club. The team are playing better without Ozil and they are moving toward the right direction. Ozil vs Arteta? Easy pick for me and for you as well if you are a Gooner.
