Let me explain more regarding an earlier tweet about 2007 efforts to pass a bill protecting lgbt persons from job discrimination. There were not enough votes to override that veto (2/3).

Rep Frank argued just getting both houses of Congress to agree was an unprecedented huge step and they could then focus on the Presidency.

But the lgbt leadership orgs insisted a right of transgender people to be recognized according to the sex with which they identified had to be in the bill.

The Human Rights campaign had not been so supportive and ultimately stepped aside. It had been strongly criticized for what was viewed as insufficient support of trans id. Later, under new leadership and a supported by a slew pf corporate backers they became a leading advocate.

I believe it was around 2014-15 or so these groups decided upon a new strategy. They would no longer seek compromise bills with piecemeal benefits (for example, jobs only). So called “Equality Acts” emerged out of that era.

You must understand that the battle was not just for trans people. Otherwise transpeople would have better care options generally and could have had more basic protections before now even if they fell short of recognition as being a member of the opposite sex.

Ending legal recognition of biology is considered key to other desired “rights,” powerful gender nonconforming male-bodied persons want, including allowing the gender nonconforming male-bodied unfettered access to women’s wombs for childbearing.

Bottom line: As they see it, this war is not women v men. It is about access for one group men (straight men) vs access for another group of men (gay or gender nonconforming men). Consequently, you gals are unimportant in it.

And facing sex discrimination from the right, some left women have decided it’s best to scramble on their hands & knees to grab the crumbs falling off this new left bread-truck driven by well-off gay & gender nonconforming males’ even if it means advancing rank misogyny.
