I& #39;m gonna start a thread on my progress of learning Japanese through self-studying, I& #39;ll list the tools I& #39;m using as well as my thoughts each day when I feel like I have something important to note
THE TOOLS
- duolingo (dropped): I used duolingo over the summer to start my studying, and I think it& #39;s a fantastic practice tool for learning the kana, as well as some basic vocab, but as I started memorizing more and more it didn& #39;t feel as helpful

THE TOOLS (cont.)
- anki w/ core6k deck: I started this in the summer and only recently got back into it, I turned the rate of new words per day down (20/day > 5/day) bc my study time is limited and I& #39;d like to stretch it out more. I& #39;m about 100 cards in rn

- genki: I haven& #39;t really been reading the textbook but I found some really helpful online versions of the workbook questions that I like using to practice. https://sethclydesdale.github.io/genki-study-resources/lessons-3rd/">https://sethclydesdale.github.io/genki-stu...

THE TOOLS (cont.)
- some immersion stuff: I read somewhere that when learning a language immersing yourself in it is a fantastic strategy, so I& #39;m trying to consume as much japanese I can each day and try to understand as much as I can without using external tools

so far this has included: A. setting my laptop and phone languages and locales to japanese, B. setting some social media display languages to japanese, C. watching some japanese kids shows without subtitles
THE TOOLS (cont.)
- yomichan: almost forgot to list this as it& #39;s become so ingrained into my routine, very easy to use dictionary for the browser that allows you to look up translations of words instantly
- jisho: online jp>eng/eng>jp dictionary, also very helpful
