My 10-year old tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.

Think you are safe? We went way above and beyond the public health recommendations and we still got hit.

Ontario has clearly failed to prevent a second wave.

We only made one risky decision - we sent our kids back to school. And to clarify, we were privileged enough to put them in a private school that is following all public health recommendations for distancing, masks, cleaning and screening.
We cancelled all kids extracurriculars, work from home, have been ordering our groceries for pickup, do not have anyone else in our bubble, and have been vigilant about avoiding public spaces and practicing proper distancing. I haven't been in a grocery store since March!
During contact tracing they were surprised by how limited our contacts are. The only likely source is school. Given what an amazing job our school is doing I have absolutely no hope for the public school system. It is time to clamp things down again.
Our daughter's only symptoms were a headache (fairly normal for her) and mild fatigue (following a bad sleep). We tested and isolated her just to be on the safe side, never imagining that she would be positive. The current government guidelines for school kids are laughable.
We were careful and followed the recommendations, but this only matters if everyone is careful.

So please stop taking unnecessary risks - these risks are threatening community safety and will result in people dying.
