I'm a whitewater rafting & zip line outfitter in WV. In March we were worried if we could open this summer. We spent hours each day looking for PPE, disinfectants, gloves, foggers, etc. We finally got the word we could open on May 22. What to do & how to keep our staff safe?
I looked at Twitter & TV for information. @juliettekayyem & @ASlavitt were two people that seemed to know. I read articles & followed them. Even traded messages with @juliettekayyem. They advised masks, gloves, wash hands, open windows on buses as we transported customers.
It's now October & we have 2 weeks left in our season. We rafted 35,000 & zip lined 15,000 with 350+ staff. So far, NO CASES of Covid amongst our staff. We hosted people from all over the USA, & they wore masks on bus rides to & from the activities. We weren't perfect.
We just tried hard to follow expert advice. Our customers bought into the precautions. We have had a successful year not our best but darn good for the circumstances. So this is a shout out to @juliettekayyem & @ASlavitt for their help.
I am very grateful that nationally known experts helped me & our staff thru months of pandemic without having the trials & tribulations that so many of our fellow Americans have had to endure. May God Bless those who have been sick & lost loved ones. Thanks Again!
