This thread will showcase each first-round pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
1) New York Rangers- LW Alexis Lafreniere

An elite playmaker who is incredibly strong on the puck. He's a human highlight reel who does everything well.

He's dominated at every level, and he’s the safest bet in this draft class to be a regular all-star.

My Rank: 1
2) Los Angeles Kings- C Quinton Byfield

A 6'4" forward with the speed and skill to thrive in transition. He's young for this class, but still scored at an A+ rate in the OHL.

He'll be a forced to be reckoned with, especially once he gets even stronger.

My Rank: 2
3) Ottawa Senators- LW/C Tim Stutzle

A great skater with a great motor. It feels like he's everywhere at all times, and he's incredibly fun to watch.

He flies around the ice, dangles his way through opponents, and is a standout playmaker. A 60+ point forward.

My Rank: 4
4) Detroit Red Wings- RW Lucas Raymond

A Marner-like winger with his size, creativity, and ridiculous skill. He dances around defenders, and has always been a star when playing for Sweden.

He's undersized, but he'll win battles, kill penalties, and score 65+ points.

My Rank: 3
5) Ottawa Senators- LD Jake Sanderson

A high-end transition defender who can keep up with just about any forward. He wins plenty of battles and outmuscles his opponents.

Bound to have a long NHL career. However, he's a good puck-mover, rather than a great one.

My Rank: 13
6) Anaheim Ducks- RD Jamie Drysdale

A high-end skater and a high-end puck mover. He's been a consistent stand-out at international tournaments, and he carries top-pairing potential.

He's the best defenceman in this class, and would have been last year as well.

My Rank: 5
7) New Jersey Devils: RW Alexander Holtz

A terrific goal scorer who will complement Hughes and Hischier perfectly. He'll be the focal point of a top powerplay unit from the Ovechkin spot, and he's got an A+ wrist shot as well.

A future 30+ goal scorer.

My Rank: 8
8) Buffalo Sabres: RW Jack Quinn

Similar to Holtz, he's a terrific goal scorer who boasts a strong wrist-shot and a strong one-timer.

He's craftier than he gets credit for, and turns medium-danger chances into high-danger chances. A likely 25+ goal winger.

My Rank: 17
9) Minnesota Wild: C Marco Rossi

A 5'9" centre who plays like a power forward. He grinds his opponents down and outworks them.

He's a lock to stick up the middle, and he plays a complete game. He'll rack up plenty of assists, and he protects the puck very well.

My Rank: 6
10) Winnipeg Jets: LW/C Cole Perfetti

A HIGHLY skilled forward with A+ hands. Equally dangerous as a goal scorer and a playmaker, and he dominated the Hlinka-Gretzky tournament.

Just an okay skater, but he's going to rack up points. He's too smart and too skilled.

My Rank: 7
11) Nashville Predators: G Yaroslav Askarov

A 6'3" goalie who is a freak athlete. He's dominated in international tournaments, and is already getting into KHL games.

There's always more risk involved when drafting a goalie, but the potential reward is very high.

My Rank: 9
12) Florida Panthers: C Anton Lundell

A responsible two-way centre who is a lock to stick up the middle He's close to NHL ready, and he's also been a standout offensively for Finland for years.

It's about time the Panthers got a good two-way Finnish centre.

My Rank: 10
13) Carolina Hurricanes: RW/C Seth Jarvis

An undersized forward who seems bound to rack up plenty of points at the NHL level. He's quick, crafty, and equally dangerous as both a goal-scorer and playmaker.

He's very skilled, and should be a 55+ point player.

My Rank: 11
14) Edmonton Oilers- LW/C Dylan Holloway

A well-rounded forward who will help his team in all situations. He's big, fast, and a better carrier than he's given credit for.

He's a bit of a safe pick, but I think he'll be a valuable top-six forward. Great skater.

My Rank: 14
15) Toronto Maple Leafs: LW/RW Rodion Amirov

A high-end skater who consistently stands out transition. He generates plenty of takeaways, and is a strong two-way winger.

He's now playing big minutes in the KHL, and led the U18 tournament in scoring last year.

My Rank: 12
16) Montreal Canadiens: LD Kaiden Guhle

A physical 6'3" defenceman who moves noticeably well for his size. He'll play on your top penalty kill unit, and out-muscle his opponents down low.

He's looked great next to Drysdale in international tournaments.

My Rank: 25
17) Chicago Blackhawks: LW Lukas Reichel

A well-rounded two-way winger who put up impressive numbers in a pro league, and also looked great at the World Juniors.

He's a safer pick, but I fully expect him to be a good middle-six winger.

My Rank: 26
18) New Jersey Devils: RW Dawson Mercer

A strong power-forward who can stick-handle in a phone booth. He'll get to the dirty areas, and he offers an above average shot as well, so he can capitalize on medium-danger chances at a strong clip. Just an okay skater.

My Rank: 20
19) New York Rangers (From CGY): RD Braden Schneider

A 6'2" physical defender who will help his team on the PK. He's already strong, and will out-muscle NHL forwards in-front.

He's an iffy puck-mover, which limits his upside, but he should have a long career.

My Rank: 37
20) New Jersey Devils: LD Shakir Mukhamadullin

A big defenceman with a heavy shot. He's physical, and still has plenty of room to fill out.

He plays with Amirov in the KHL, and is off to a good start. He's an iffy puck mover under pressure.

My Rank: Not in my top 60.
21) Columbus Blue Jackets: LW Yegor Chinakhov

Over-ager. He played with Amirov and Abramov at the '18 Hlinka, and is off to a good start in the KHL this year.

My notes from the U18 say he's a bit of a one-way winger who can score on the powerplay.

My Rank: Not in my top 60.
22) Washington Capitals: C Hendrix Lapierre

A high-end playmaker who looked like a top-12 pick at the Hlinka, where he racked up 11 points in five games on a line with Perfetti.

He's a good puck-carrier who will rack up assists, but needs to score more.

My Rank: 15
23) Philadelphia Flyers: RW Tyson Foerster

A big winger with an A+ shot from the Ovi spot. He needs to get faster, but there's 30+ goal upside due to his ability to put the puck in the net.

High-risk, but goal scoring potential.

My Rank: 46 (But he could make me look stupid)
24) Calgary Flames: C/LW Connor Zary

A highly skilled forward with A+ hands. He's smart, sees the ice well, and has a great highlight reel.

He's an iffy skater, and he's older for this class, but he's good. Great for Canada at the U18 tournament. Good pick.

My Rank: 18
25) Colorado Avalanche: RD Justin Barron

6'2", and does everything rather well. He's a solid puck mover who can defend in transition, and hold his own in front of the net.

He's dealt with a blood clot, but was great at the Hlinka.

My Rank: 32, but top 25 if healthy.
26) Calgary Flames: LW Jake Neighbours

He's a favourite of mine. A hard-working winger, who will win plenty of battles, and get to the dirty areas. Underrated skater and carrier. Safe bet to be a middle-six winger. Hyman-like.

My Rank: 42, but I think I had him too low.
27) Anaheim Ducks: RW Jacob Perreault

Love this pick.

A good shooter who will rack up goals from the Ovechkin spot. He’s 5’11”, but he’s strong for his size, and fast enough to beat NHL defenders out wide. Should be a bit of a steal.

My Rank: 16
28) Ottawa Senators: LW Ridly Greig

A hard-nosed player with a pretty good shot. He out-works his opponents, brings a physical edge, and should be able to keep up at the NHL level. Middle-six potential.

My Rank: Not in my top 60. Just missed. Solid player.
29) Vegas Golden Knights: C Brendan Brisson

He's a great shooter who will score plenty of goals with his one-timer. He's quite skilled, and he's a solid playmaker.

Needs to improve his skating to be better at 5v5. Shot + skill gives him some scoring upside.

My Rank: 27
30) Dallas Stars: C Mavrik Bourque

An above average shooter and an above average playmaker. He's skilled, and a fine skater.

He needs to get stronger and win more battles, but the talent is certainly there to be a middle-six forward. Great numbers in the Q.

My Rank: 24
31) San Jose Sharks- RW Ozzy Wiesblatt

Wiesblatt is a first round pick! What a great story.

He's a hard-working player who impresses in transition. An above average skater with a pretty good shot.

My Rank: 34. Love his game.
