In honor of NJ trying to expand abortion rights, I thought I would share some facts.

This has nothing to do with #prochoice or #prolife , just facts to consider.
abortifacients: medications resulting in abortion (miFEPRIStone, methotrexate, misoprostol)
SE: angioedema, HTN, abd. pain, hepatotoxicity, uterine bleeding & cramping, hypokalemia, ruptured ectopic pregnancy, pneumonia, arthralgia and myalgia, osteonecrosis, infertility, & more.
Endometritis: infection of the uterine lining.
Can occur with abortion causing extreme pain and pelvic inflammatory disease.
Left untreated it can cause fertility issues and reproductive organ complications.
Uterine rupture (medical emergency): The uterine wall develops a hole or tear. This is more so for later term abortions but not limited to.
The woman can DIE as a result of major blood loss and hemorrhage.
Breast cancer: Now this is still being debated but there have been studies showing a trend that women who undergo abortions are at a higher risk/ have breast cancer.
This has to do with the sudden hormonal changes in a woman's body (kind of like breast feeding reducing BC risk)
RISKS FOR FUTURE PREGNANCIES: Getting an abortion now does not mean a woman will not eventually have or want kids.
This is (IMO) where the greatest risks lie not only for the mom but the baby aswell.
RISKS FOR FUTURE PREGNANCIES: Premature births and Miscarriages.
It is not always known why a baby may come early or pass in the womb, however there is a link between previous abortions causing these (including Plan B "abortions").
RISKS FOR FUTURE PREGNANCIES: Placenta Previa
This is when the placenta covers the cervical opening in the mom and can cause SEVERE (potentially deadly) bleeding before and during labor.
A C-section may be required (if natural birth is something you would rather do)
RISKS FOR FUTURE PREGNANCIES: Ectopic Pregnancy.
This is when fertilized egg attaches anywhere other than the uterine lining.
Ectopic pregnancies cannot proceed to a full term and die.
This can cause severe bleeding of the surrounding tissue causing major health concerns for mom.
This is not to say these things are inevitable and will happen because they very well may not and you could BE FINE. This thread is just to serve as a resource if you may be debating an abortion and to give more of a medical look into things and not just social or financial.
Your choice is your choice and will hopefully be made in a knowledgeable manner. Your health matters too and sometimes the convenience of an abortion may not be worth it to yourself, always contact and have a discussion with your healthcare provider.
