i am remembering how awful my experience as an intersex person was in lgbt orgs and id like to talk about it (thread)

i was alienated in lgbt groups for 'only caring about intersex issues' mind you this was because i made TWO powerpoints, about a year apart, to present in meetings they ENCOURAGED me to do. there were no intersex leaders and only 3 intersex members including me (we all left)

i was also spoken over, told that my experiences were invalid, intersex erasure in lgbt events like pride didnt exist, asked some pretty invasive questions, generally just disrespected even after being asked to share

at my first pride, i saw no rep. at the second pride, i only saw one individual pin (featuring the INCORRECT flag) and a flag at a 18+ booth, labeled the h*rmaphrodite flag. yeah, read that again. the only rep was an outdated design and literal fetishization featuring a SLUR

THIS is why perisex ppl need to stop saying to exclude the I. you are NOT HELPING US!! let us speak for OURSELVES. intersex people get to decide if we want to be included, and a majority of us DO. so stop trying to exclude us and speak for us (and over us)
